Sonos control from NetLinx system ?

Hi,

Would someone have a chance to control Sonos system ? I was unable to find protocol on sonos website :( I'm interested both by protocol and any piece of code you might have for control ?

Thanks in advance

I thought the SONOS is a proprietary closed system. You've heard otherwise?

I got that answer from PR manager of Sonos:

"No - we do not allow open API work with our system. There are a variety of reasons for this - but the most important one is that we want Sonos to be a mainstream, mass product someday in the near future. We think we have ease of set-up, ease of use, performance and design nailed - so now, we need to focus on getting the price point down. To get this to mainstream, we have to focus our time and effort on improving the product. If we allowed others to impact the Sonos brand at this point - we are leaving ourselves a bit exposed, and we don't want to do that at this time."

So it definitively looks they didn't understand advantages to control their system from AMX products. No big deal I'll continue to use SlimServer that is open, more flexible and less expensive and fully controlable :D

I know by previous posts you prefer SlimServer over the Roku SoundBridge but can the SlimServer access and play music files stored in iTUNES like the SoundBridge?

I've never played with SlimServer but I find the SoundServer to be very reliable with the module I wrote for it a while back. Have you ever played with the SB or just the SS?

Definitively yes if slimserver is installed on a Mac, mine runs on a Mac Mini since months without any issue ;)
