Lonworks & AMX -- recommended practice

I have a need to interface a NI-4100 with a pre-existing Lonworks network that is used in our building for HVAC monitoring.
I'm looking for opinions from anyone here on the best way to accomplish this. I do know that Echelon makes an "iLon" product that supports SOAP and other protocols that I could implement on the AMX gear to reach into the LonWorks network. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or other ideas how the interfacing could be accomplished?

In the list it's called NXG-LON-S, product number Y-NXG-KNX-S
It connects to NetLinx by RS232, and will be integrated into a Lonworks environment like any other node, which means that a Lonworks integrator must bind it into the network.
