    Neato!!!!!
  • Very Cool! Thanks for sharing!
  • So when will we have a module for these?

    Wow, that was impressive.

Here’s a link with a video that was posted today of a robot cheetah that set a land speed record.

Saw that one the other day. There is some very funky research happening with what is possible with quad/hex/octo-copters.

I don't have a module for these, but I do have an AR.Drone that I'm working on building Pd externals for so I can take advantage of all its vision processing. The thing is freaking amazing - its a flying linux box.

Wow, that thing looks awesome. Definitely on my wish list :) Wonder how far I can get it to go with a decent WiFi router outdoors?

I wouldn't worry about a WiFi upgrade, people have hacked 3G modems onto them - much further reach.

Every few months I geek out on the videos from Kiva material handling systems: http://www.kivasystems.com/ The bots are centrally coordinated rather than being autonomous, but the scope of the algorithms and systems involved is just staggering, and they're fun to watch, too.

I've seen videos of quads playing ping-pong, and cooperatively building a wall with interlocking blocks. I also saw a very wild one where they played the James Bond theme on a set of instruments: a couple of them were popping up and down on levers attached to a keyboard, a queue of them were dragging metal posts along a horizontal ladder thingie for percussion, etc.

What I keep thinking is the prospects for this kind of control on a micro scale. Nanobots anyone?
  • As long as they incorporate this into their code:
