Signature 12MTK - availability issues?

I have been trying to track down a Signature 12MTK. The local sales outlets say "not expecting ever", the distributor says "next summer". So I went to Sweetwater for an international purchase (not the best, I understand but within reason). They said limited availability, I called to check - they said one coming in next week. So within 12 hours, I placed an order, only to get back "Unfortunately it's on a long backorder and isn’t' expected back in stock until the end of March."

Oh, and they tried to sell me a competitor product!

So what is the status on these things? Should I scrap the project I am working on because this won't be around for a long time to come?
