AKG Lyra: headphone use only

I want to use only the headphone output of the Lyra to monitor myself. If I connect to a PC it works fine. But if I connect it to a USB power supply there's no output from the headphone port. Is it possible to power-up and use the Lyra without connecting it to a PC or tablet or smartphone?
