AKG K712 K702 - headbands with weak spots

The lower part of the headbands of K702 and K712 utilize on each side a transparent plastic part ( with a slot in the middle, its purpose seems to be the centering of the adjustment mechanism ). These parts only last for some months of regular use, then they start to break. Although the use of the headphones isn't affected much, the question arises as to what this is about. Is this planned obsolescence ? Or am I the only user where these parts don't last long ?
