Other places to find AMX IR files

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone knows of websites where you can get IR drivers from other than AMX.com, Specifically I"m looking for an IR driver for a Sony KDL-47W802A, which I didn't see in amx's library.

Any guidance on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

    javedwahid,
    Many options exist here.
(Note: no endorsement of 3rd product sites and/or products is implied)
    1) Try the IR files/codes for similar products from Sony. Files for other Sony televisions may still work for you.
    2) Send the remote into AMX technical support and the AMX InConcert Team can capture the remote and add the codes to the AMX library.
    3) Use sites like http://www.RemoteCentral.com to obtain the raw HEX values for the IR commands you are seeking to use. Inside the AMX IREdit software, you can use the Discrete IR HEX code entry tool to add them to your IR file.
    4) Capture the codes yourself using different IR learning devices:
    a. AMX IRIS - http://www.amx.com/products/IRIS.asp
    b. Engo USB - http://engo.com/irlearner.aspx
    c. USB IRT - http://www.usbuirt.com/
    5) Other manufacturer tools may expose the IR HEX commands in their tools/libraries for use in the IREdit tool Hex Editor.

    Thank you,
    Chris

You could also check the RTI Master Command Library.

I've had a fair amount of success finding hex codes to import to IREdit. Several manufacturers have them on web sites, or will supply them on request. Others will supply an RC5 code, and you can use a program like IR Code Doctor ( http://www.ir-toolkit.com/ ) to convert the RC5 to hex.

And Chris makes a good point that many manufacturers use the same codes for all similar models, and Sony is definitely one of them. The only issue you are likely to have using an older Sony file would be any new functions on your target model.
