Which is the best IR learning unit available.

I want to purchase an IR learning unit which can generate files that can be used for AMX and others. I know there are softwares which can convert to other IR file versions but IRIS is not very user friendly due to the serial connection, etc. How about iTach units from Global cache. Here are a few other options that i have found.

I use a RTI IR-Pro, very stable and easy to use then just post the hex to the AMX IREdit. Used it now for 2-3 years. Got it on a recommendation from another AMX programmer and found very good.

Thanks for the recommendation. I am trying to get more recommendations .
  • I use RTI and agree with everyting what wrote NZrob. Additionaly RTI have good and huge base of IR codes which you can use w/o reading remote. Most remotes has usualy only toggle power button in RTI ir library in most case you'll find discrete codes for power on and power off. And finally at the begining you don't need to buy RTI unit and in spite of this, you can use ir code library.
  • The IRIS with a Keyspan USB to serial adapter works woks great.

I got this unit finally http://www.globalcache.com/products/itach/ip2irspecs/ . This unit came out more economical than the RTI unit.

Eric, what software are you using to capture the codes with your USB-UIRT?

USB - UIRT Learn Helper Utility. I didn't end up using their whole suite of software as I don't care about that. Kenny was very helpful in getting it. The little utility is exactly what we need. A simple window to past in Hex Code which you can then hold the little box near the device and send a test fire. Or you capture the code from the remote and the hex appears in the window. Short - simple - quick - done.

If you need it, I can help. lemme neaux...
