Melbourne developer position

Looking for a place where you can work on some of the best projects in the southern hemisphere? We're looking for a new developer / interface designer to join the Melbourne Ci team.

For an idea of what we do, here's some drone footage of a 50,000 pixel wide LED screen that we recently built for the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Everything you see there can be rendered real time at 60fps and is fully integrated with live game stats, social media feeds and other live data sources. Our systems handle all content management, creation and control (that part is thanks to AMX and TPControl), signal distribution and analytics. The LED's are ours too.

For something a little more corporate-y, here's one of our clients talking about an operations center solution we created for them.

More projects over at ciasia.com.au.

Ideally, you'll have:
  • A couple of years of development experience in the AV industry.
  • Fluency in other languages (Java, Python, C++, C# etc, extra high fives if you want a Lisp or Haskell nerd out) and any experience in the desktop, mobile, embedded or web world would also be awesome.
  • Solid knowledge of networking and IP communications.
  • Experience with version control (git / SVN) and an ability to play nicely with others.
  • A passion for AV, interface design and building beautifully simple solutions.
  • Confidence and motivation to continue to develop your skills.
  • High levels of attention to detail and ability to work autonomously.

We're primarily an AMX house when in comes to your more generic control systems (however will always opt for the right tool for the job), but also work with custom development across other platforms. Currently we have a little over 100 people spread around the country. The role is based out of our Melbourne office with commissioning for most projects taking place in the CBD / Metro but there may be the occasional need for regional or interstate travel.

We will provide:
  • Your choice of development platform (Mac, PC, Linux) and everything you need to work at your best.
  • Continued training and professional development.
  • Opportunity to build and contribute to open source projects.
  • Modern office environment (currently being renovated) near public transport, with plenty of parking and charging options for electric vehicles. Most importantly, there's an great coffee shop near by too.

If this sounds like this could be your next step, drop me a PM and I'll get you in touch with the right people.

For the right person, that's definitely open to discussion.

Ahh, if only I were younger and more adventurous .

Melbourne has been named the world's most liveable city for the fifth year in a row, achieving a near perfect score on the Economist Intelligence Unit's (EIU) liveability survey of 140 cities.

The survey rated cities out of 100 in the areas of health care, education, stability, culture and environment and infrastructure.

Melbourne again achieved a score of 97.5, just two-and-a-half points shy of perfection.
