Autopatch Precis End Of Life

Dear All,
Don't know if some of you have already been informed about the Autopatch Precis Audio Switchers series discontinuation. Although they still appears in the web site as available products, the 8x8 is not while the 18x18 is still available but it reaches the end of life.
But what next ????? Which are the replacements of them ? What should we use from the AMX range to make an audio distribution with volume control ?
I really don't like to hear - once more from AMX - there are not any replacements !!

George

Hi George, you're correct, those were announced on Oct 12 IIRC, and it looks like there is still some stick available if you have an immeidate need or would like to stock up on spares.

As a replacement, have you taken a look at the BSS line of DSPs? They should have a product that meets/exceeds the needs of the old 8x8s & 18x18s. Feel free to PM me and we can take a look at your design(s) to make sure we get you what you need.

Gee, if the internet just had a way to "link" to more information about the product you mention, it would be great. So much quicker than doing private messages to arrange to know more... maybe someday.

So I used this thing called GOOGLE and found out more. The BSS series appears not to have the VOLUME CONTROL PER OUTPUT or EQUALIZER per output, and appears to be a lot more expensive than the PRECIS. So I don't see it as "exceeding the needs". Unless the install guide, cut sheets, and brochures just didn't mention those features...

Using a combination of something like a Blu100 https://bssaudio.com/en/products/blu-100 in combination with BIBs and BOBs https://bssaudio.com/en/product_families/break-in-break-out-boxes you can custom size stereo matrices from 6x4 up to to 14x20 - each output and input configured with what ever you fancy, including EQ (parametric or graphic) and LEVEL control. Not to mention CROSSOVERS, LIMITERS and DELAYS- all useful DSP blocks in "simple" audio distribution systems. Larger (or smaller) matrix options and even integrating VOIP/POTS is possible with other Blu series hardware https://bssaudio.com/en/product_families/soundweb-london There is also a module that can be configured to work exactly the way you want it to work (To SNAPI or to SNAPI... that even a question?) https://trade.amx.com/inconcert/ct/DevMdlDetails.asp?A=Sh&MdlNo=33447&MdNo=0&DLM=1&lk=4D7F2B30-C75B-4FE9-A3A8-566BC457&FPMSN=
