2 RS232 sending devices to a RS232 projector

Hello,


My question:

Is it possible to have 2 RS232 sending devices like 2 separate pc's. Those PC's will independently control the RS232 projector and receive status.

It almost work but yet its not reliable. So maybee can help me with it. Is there a device with switch RS232 control ports or whatever...

I hope somebody can help me out...

    Have you checked Black Box? They might have something. Can you control the device IP? That might be the best way.

    Your standard RS232 spooler from Black Box works great for
    this type of application. I have used this method several
    times in order to share A/V equipment for multiple rooms.

    Better yet...

    Use 3 AMX RS232 ports (1 to the projector and 1 for each PC) and write the appropriate code to provide the "intelligent" switching. Responses from the device may cause the control software problems, so some intelligent routing may be necessary.

    This solution also has scalability on its side because you could add more RS232 ports to have more sharing...

    And of course, the extra revenue to AMX wouldn't hurt :)
