Set NXR-ZRP-PRO repeater to link your NXR-ZGW-PRO Gateway

I have 3 R4’s connected to gateway. Also I have a repeater connected. Now what is purpose of repeater ? Do I change the extended Pan ID on repeater to something different than the gateway and then set the R4’s extended Pan ID to the repeater pan id?
As it is now all have extended PAN ID of the gateway and that makes me think what is purpose of the repeater
