Hi!
Bought a used NX-4200 for learning purpose.
Updated the Master firmware to 1.8.190 successfully and tried to update Device firmware to 1.1.50 from 1.1.48
but something must have gone wrong. Now Device 5001 in device tree is not there and also a lot of other ports and stuff are gone.

LCD says "Starting Up..." and seems to be stuck there.

I can ssh connect to the master and also via webconsole.. seems to work.
In the terminal ive tried to use "manage firmware" and selected factory image for Master which was successful to load and installed after reboot.

Selecting Factory image for Device 5001 is not sucessful.

Also tried to run in PRD mode so program load are disabled on startup but no change.

What to do? Have i done something major bad?
Please help!

  • This debug indicates a problem in communication between the NX master itself, and the device 5001.
Either flashing the device 5001 failed for whatever reason and so the flash mem got corrupted, but could worst case also mean that the baseboard has a problem.

Unfortunately both would mean that this controller needs to get to repair at Harman.

    Ah, i see!
So there are nothing else i could try?

Tried also removing the SOM board with the microsd card on it. Tried powering up and the initial LED light swipe did not show. Also not with it installed.

Sending it to Harman for repair isnt worth it i guess. Bought it second hand so there are no original receipts etc.._
and the costs for repair is quite high i guess.

Its just stuck at "Starting Up.."

I wish that there was a USB boot procedure to erase and program the mems on power up.
But that maybe wouldnt fix it eitherway if that was an option.

Both the master and Device Firmware are stored on the SD card on the SOM. While the Master firmware "stays" on the SOM (it is the OS, completely used on the SOM), the Device firmware after downloading will be transferred to the baseboard chipset. This seems to fail, and so there is no chance to fix that in the field. The chipset on the baseboard, if not completely defect, must be binary reflasht, which only can be done in the repaircenter.

    Ok, thank you for explanation!
Ive reached out to our local service partner/center so i will see what happens.
At least i should be worth sending it in for diagnose and see what the costs will be.

I guess the board/chip can be reprogrammed via the SPI?
