    master comm settings

I am curious, are you able to see the master and devices
in your online tree in NS2?

Possibly your comm settings are not correct.
  • hi,
thanks for your replay how i can see the master and devices

    reref to screenshot image

    If you are communicating properly:

Typically, you will see the communication box (screen lower right)
colored green and displaying the current parameters.
(Although sometimes this box is green even when parameters
    are not correct).

On the left side of the screen in your workspace area,
you will have 2 tabs to choose from.

    Select the "online tree" tab,
click on the small box labeled "display",
    then select "refresh system".

The workspace section should display the associated master,
and also list the devices connected and their firmware versions.

Make sure that you are using the same communication parameters
to transfer files as you are for master communication.

When you attempt to transfer, make sure the listed connection
    settings match.

Is there a source code there that can be received? Perhaps it only has code than can not be received.

    That's not good!

It sounds like the vendor who previously loaded the program
    has password-protected the code.

Unless you have the proper password to extract the data,
I believe you may be out of options for receiving the code.

I am not aware of any backdoor path into these units.
  • hi,

It should prompt you for a password. The units if have with password protection do when I start the recieve function.
  • hi,
it does not prompt me for user name or password when i try to receive code from controller

is there any way to get the code

Is the unit in master mode?

I think the password prompt may be firmware dependent; some older versions may just fail as described. I'm not 100% certain of that, but I seem to remember running across it. I have also (and am dealing with a case right now) had downloads work with one computer, but not another, even though all else was equal. I'm still trying to figure that one out. I had just done some successful updates myself on this job, but when another tech went there to make a minor change, he couldn't load the code.

You could try to load (if it is still around) the axcessx software and try to upload the file. This would/should prevent any firmware issues.

IF you scroll over it will tell you why the download failed.

If it is no source code available it is becouse the previous tech uploaded machine code only. It was actually very common not to upload the source code on axcent 2/3 due to the memory limitations of the masters.
