AMX vs ******** comparison

Hi all,

can we have a thread so we can share our experiences
comparing AMX and ******** panels the PRO and CONS.

like can ******** similar to G4 computer control. if so can
it provide video as it seems amx g4 will not provide
video from the computer if u play a dvd etc.

please share your expriences so we have an idea where
AMX has the edge.

There's no edge. You have to either buy a G4 panel, VPN into it and not have video support, or regress to TPD3 and embed a video object in your HTML code.

Cre$tron actually lets you use current TP elements to control a system without requiring you to buy a physical touch panel. On top of that, you can also embed a video obect in the HTML code. Another sweet option is to compile your panel layout into a PC executable file - so you can have the TP interface on your computer without using a web browser - but you again lose the ability to embed video.

    Virtual Touch Panel

    Maybe?
    Someday?

A PC applet based (G4 quality) virtual touch panel that is not dependent
on a physical touch panel being present would be a great
    wonderful thing.

Almost like running a modified version of G4 Panel Preview.

This (in my opinion) is the single most reason why I have to
pick one brand over the over occasionally.

The cost of physical panels is too high, and alsmost every
    area has a dedicated PC.

    Thanks.

And how often does the "touch panel" require a re-boot?

I do fully agree that most touchpanels, especially the XGA and higher resolution ones, are way too expensive. Definately not in line with the slight cost increase for the LCD and overlay. IMHO 15" panel should cost just a few hundred dollars more than a 12", and a 12" just a few hundred more than a 10", etc.

i kinda like cre$trons ability to use embedded applications like powerpoint / excel / etc
Also your touchpanel layout resides on a flashcard, so you can "hotswap" your touchpanel layout between touchpanels...
