Decided to go ahead and start using VA for an upcoming install on a small NI-3000 system. Only one small problem, No MIO-DMS keypads as far as I can find. Im quite green with VA, my assumption is they should be under Keypads.

MIO DMS KEYPAD - first installation notes......
I just finished a system using MIO DMS throughout the house......
Took me a full day to produce a full keypad menu UI file that got basic control going. It is controlling distributed audio via a new Autopatch switcher that has the new DSP feature (AMX switcher replacement)
The Lutron light almond color matches the client's house perfectly.
Next task is getting some dynamic text fields on the keypad to display current volume level and current source device.
The only confusing thing is attempting to use the list box feature. Tried to use it on button # 1 and it does not reply a button push to the master.
Since Tech Support has no programming file examples, the manual pages only function definitions, there was at first a "Huh?" kind of a hurdle to get past. Not having an example to study sucks.
But a couple of energy drinks later......the keypads menu system works just like a touch panel. Hit a button on the keypad is just like a touchpanel button returning a push from a port+channel combo.
Good thing is button press speed. Quick.
Negatives :
The NDP master connection option works aok for about an hr or too then Studio reports the device "Lost". The UDP seems to work aok with a static IP.
I dont think anyone at AMX actually tried to install these into a wall. I install nine of them into drywall, and dont understand how they can be secured. The screw holes are too close to the drywall edge to function for anything. If this keypad was being screwed into solid hardwood, it might work. I found the only method of securing them is to stick them into a wall and use a piece of cardboard as a wedge to secure them into the wall.
The install manual illusrations are actually backward or reversed, and cannot be followed. I tried to study it and after 20 mins....tossed it. And then the install expansion clip? No use for drywall install. Also if you did screw the plastic back box into the wall that could accept screws, how on earth can you remove the keypad? There is no way of getting to the plastic clips once the keypad is push in against the wall with a screwdriver type tool!
If anyone can clue me in on how they accomplished this install task the way AMX intends it to be done...Please Share! The client is happen with them.....the bigger fonts are great for the eyes.....
I was suprised that no other threads exist on these keypads yet.
Mike.
I imagine they just aren't widely in use yet. My sales people aren't very excited about them; they are still selling MSP keypads, and when more is wanted, they upgrade that to CV-7's ... nothing in between.
Thanks for all the feedback on install issues. I am in and out of a project that I am needing to replace all the Old style dms with the new ones, about 20 in all. The housing for the MIO does look to be a pain in the butt. Since I am replacing old keypads on ICSNET, I quickly relized im gonna need a POE switch. And all my single gang nail-in boxes are going to have to be cut out of the wall. MAJOR BUMMER!! Im drinking to new products tonight!!
Cheers!!
I had to do the same thing, after the product delivery was several months behind and the house was already finished. Had to cut out the plastic rough in boxes first. After you do 2 you will find its actualy easy using a drywall hand saw and cutting two corners, and then the box falls out of its attachment nails. Discovered this the hard way. Since the new keypads do not have much overlap onto the wall, you need to be carefull measuring 3 times and cutting once & not chipping too much off paint along the edges.
When you get to your 5th one you will be a pro.
By number 20 you will be teaching us.
Mike.
I have a new job that will have the Autopatch Precis LT(18x18) and 8 Mio DMSs. Since AMX doesn't have any study files for the new Mio DMS and the Autopatch Precis Duet module is full of bugs. I wonder if you could share your implementation of the Autopatch Precis LT with the Mio DMS. I am concerned about volume and source feedback and bargraph implementations. I have my test Mio DMS and I am finding out that it's very time comsuming to program it. Also the KeypadBuilder lacks a very important option: 'Page Navigation Preview'. Unlike the old DMS KPDesign and TP4, there is no way to preview your navigation screens, other than download the file to the physical Mio DMS. Navigation preview is a must to program these new keypads. I hope AMX adds this feature to KeypadBuilder. I would appreciate very much if you could e-mail me a few samples of your code and a Mio DMS file.
Thanks again,

Sure I would be happy to do so. Currently to my knowledge, the Autopatch device is the only solution for AMX people to be able to tweak the sound. (Similiar to the old AS16)
Autopatch was a pleasure to work with...and they provided a helping hand...equipment wise.
You are correct, the AMX autopatch module is completely useless for the new Precis DSP module. ( Bass / Treble / Gain adjustment)
email me a method of sending you a large file > 10 megs.
