Programmatically updating the MIO screen

Is it possible to dynamically update the screen on a MIO R-2 remote? I know that you can use Keypad Builder to make static text appear on the screen when, for example, the macro buttons are pressed, but I was wondering if it is possible to do something more dynamic than that.

  • Communication is via 1-way IR/RF from the R-2 to the NetLinx master via an IR or RF receiver.
So there is no way to have the master send a message to the remote.

You would think a remote from AMX would have features like that. An ergonomic hald held version of a MIO DMS for instance.

It would be cool to incorporate a vibrate feature into it as an alert, a kill switch similar to iPods that disable button inputs while carrying around in your pants pocket or purse for instance. Program the vibrate to go off when some one pulls into your driveway, the phone rings, what ever and then display a text meassage to descibe the alert. It would be real nice for people that throw a lot of parties. Scroll through a song list on a pocket remote, could be big market for it.

There really is a need for something between the current remote and an MVP 8400 like a wireless DMS but sleeker.

Niles Audio even has a RF remote with 2-way coms that will display meta data and more. And that's Niles!

Thanks for the response. I was hoping against hope that since I was using the remote in RF mode, 2-way communications could be managed.
