cpu power of touch panels

OK, this is slightly frivolous, but I'm wondering if there are significant differences in the processing power of the various TPs. I hooked up an AXIS 240Q camera server at my owners house, and put up the same interface for the MVP-8400 and the NXD-CV12. Thinking myself clever, I told him the frame rate would be visibly slower for the MVP-8400 with its 802.11b connectivity. He, of course, made me go move around in the driveway to demonstrate. I could not have been more wrong. The 8400 was probably getting very close to the spec'd 5fps, but the CV-12, with it's hard-wired CAT5 connection, performed very poorly, I was moving 5 to 10 ft between refreshes. And I'm a big guy, I don't move that fast. I don't get this, what would explain the difference? Does the 8400 have more processing power than the CV12? I could not find any reference to cpu rates in any of the literature I looked at.

thanks,
Bob Moyle

The MVP-8400 came out quite a while after the CV-12, and the CV-12 was designed for straight video input rather than streamed network video. I would guess the MVP has a much more powerful GPU. The CV-12, as a direct upgrade from the 10" G3 panel, just didn't need it when it was released. It's likely part of why it's been discontinued in favor of the 1200V.

    Since your curious.

The MVP-8400 was designed with an AMD Alchemy Au1100.
The NXD-CV12 utilizes a 500 MIPS PowerPC processor.
