MVPs Coming Back Online

Greetings,

Why is it that after system reboots my MVPs sometimes usually don't come back on line right away. Occasionally they come back within a few seconds of the completed reboot? It seems to be occuring more since puttin in the latest MVP firmware.

What are the recommnded system connection settings for wireless panels connected to a master on the local LAN?

Even wired panels have a bit of a delay coming on line, in my experience. I have always just considered this normal. Something in the panel must always be polling the NIC to see if the connection remains open, and if it's lost, it must go through some reset procedure that includes re-establishing the network connection. After all, how can it know the problem is in the network or in the master? And, of course, add wireless to the mix and you add the inherent delays of re-establishing the wireless connection and whatever encryption might be active, etc. Certainly, a wireless connection on a PC takes quite a bit longer to re-establish than a wired one. I think that is all you are seeing.

    OK.

The time until the panels come online can vary from a few seconds after reboot to two minutes. I'm always trying to tweak things! :)

What are you trying to tweak? The ONLINE event will fire for each TP and that's the trigger you can use to update channel feedback and variable text. Is the another variable in your equation that the ONLINE event will not satisfy?

No, nothing related to ONLINE?OFFLINE events, I'm just trying to get the panels themselves back on line as soon as possible after a reboot.
