IR Emitter Distance exceed. How do I overcome it?

Hi All,

Of late I have faced a problem on the length of the IR emitter being too long. The master is at one end of the room and the DVD player at the other far end. Making the emitter unable to work. once I put the DVD player within the distance limit it will function.

So would like to ask how to I work over it in such circumstances and normally how would one extend the length of the IR emitter.

Hope someone can enlighten me here in this. Thank you!

I have no idea of price as I'm a programmer.

AMX would tell you to use an AXB-IRS4

How long do you need to run?? You might want to look the type of cable you are using to extend it with.

What type of cable would deem good for extension of IR distance? It would be helpful if you can actually provide me some advise on this.

I'm quite raw in wiring as I'm actually a programmer as well. However, I have faced this problems on site thus it would deem good for me to know so that I can advise the installers should such situations arises.

The output of an AMX IR port seems considerably weaker than other IR devices. My boss and I argue over this all the time; he doesn't see why it should be. Though I have to agree in principle, my experience tells me it is the case. Xantech rates emitter runs to almost a mile, but I can't get an AMX emitter run to work more than a couple hundred feet or so.

But Xantech is our answer. Just send the AMX output to one of their connection blocks, and take the emitter off of that. As I said, you can now go nearly a mile with it.
