MVP Noise?

I had a call this morning from a customer who said her MVP8400 was making a humm or low frequency hiss which she says sounds similar to an alarm tone (what ever that means).

Has anyone ever witnessed an MVP making this thas type of steady tone. If so, what was it. I won't be able to investigate it until tuesday so any insight would be appreciated.

I would guess two different things:

Either audio system that drives the loudspeaker in it has broken or is blocked on a tone. In that last case, a simple reboot of MVP should resolve the issue (remove battery of it).

The backlight circuitry is being to die (it's based on a transformer and so it can makes so noise if something goes wrong in it) and it means it needs repair.

Hope it helps and enjoy end of year holidays ;)

    Had it

Yeah, i've noticed a few MVP-8400 makeing that noise. usually when you leave them too long awake they do this low electirc humm. reboot won't help. i just let the panel rest a bit and lower the display timeout of the panel and it helped my case.

    Good luck.

Thanks guys, I remotely rebooted the panel but I haven't called to see if the noise has stopped. As far as the display time out possibility, this panel actually wasn't going to sleep I have it running "Picture Frame" and was just going to that after 5 minutes of inactivity. I did however go back in remotely and change the display time out from 0 to 30 just in case it's tired and needs a nap. I give the customers a call after the new year and see if this problem has been resolved or if a repair is needed.
