DMS WakeUP!

Is there a way to defeat the need for the DMS keypads back light to come up to full brightness (fully awake) before it will accept a button push. This is very annoying and the back light should have nothing to do with the ability to push buttons although otherwise if you can't really see there's no way to activate the back light with out executing a button push. Catch 22. OK, is there a way to expedite the back light instead of the sluggish way it wakes up presently.

  • This is one of the reasons that I don't like the Mio DMS 8 button. At least the Pinnacle acts like a touch panel, as you need to wake it up to touch the screen. In my opinion the Pinnacle is much more functional keypad.
  • i've just installed 8 MIO DMS in a house, and the client likes to use them as the light switch, blinds/curtains controller, hvac etc. for the room they're in. So the need to "wake up" the screen before being able to turn the lights on is unnaceptable. One press and one press only please...

The solution we're using is to set the backlight timeout setting to 0. Go into the setup pages of the MIO DMS and change it (within "Display Settings). The problem with this is the screens are forever glowing brightly.... not a big problem, except for when the client wants to go to sleep. so i've added a button that sends a command to the MIO DMS to go to sleep.

    hope this helps

i have to say though that i'm not very impressed with the MIO DMS keypads. AMX can surely come up with a much nicer designed similar keypad cant they? Use better materials, cleaner design, please more style!!
  • I have to agree. We bought 1 Mio DMS for a a job and I will not likely ever use 1 again. Flakey command respones, poor image quality, noway to view it from a distance(?) are just a few of the things I see wrong with it.
