Control a Jukebox

Does anyone know of a commercially available CD Jukebox that can be controlled by RS232, IP or something else? I have a client that is re-vamping the sound system in his bar/restaurant and he wants to have a traditional CD jukebox that when idle can trigger another playback device (standalone CD player, ipod, etc).

    That's an awesome idea!

Maybe instead of finding a smart jukebox, you could put a sensor over the audio output for your standard jukebox to tell when there is music playing, and switch your switcher accordingly. Might be a problem for songs with a long silence in them though :-p

I haven't messed with jukebox integration in 20 years, but last I did they had output jacks to tie to external systems and remote turn on/off capability. I would be shocked if by now they don't also have either RS-232 or IP control.

Right? You'd think that, but all my research so far tells me that jukebox technology has really changed very little in that time. There aren't that many manufacturers of NEW ones, other than the obnoxious internet ones that the client, and most reputable bar owners, are trying to avoid because of the ugly advertisements that popup on the screen. And even those don't have any dedicated control port.
