Comcast DVR in chicago

I have ran into two NEW boxes in the last two weeks that stopped responding to my Comcast DVR .irl. I had a very lengthy day finding my work around, I am just curious if anyone else has ran into this?
It has been well documented that these things need to replaced often because Motorola's box is not all that good. I'd hate to see this popping up all over.
