1700 VG as a mouse?

Is it possible to use the touch screen on an NXD-1700 VG as an input device for an attached computer? The manual has plenty of references to doing a mouse or keyboard pass-thru from the TP to the computer, and it seems to hint at the ability to use the TP itself as an input device, but so far I haven't found the right incantation of SEND_COMMANDs to do it.
ETA: I'm not interested in using TakeNote! as the network lag makes it unusable.
