EXTRON MPS 112 60-532-01 switcher failures

We have sold about 104 of these units since 2003.
Within the last month I have had four of the units sold in 2004 stop responding to RS232 and fail to switch. The only solution has been to return to Extron.
We have had others fail but did not correlate the time window because they were sporadic failures.
When Extron repaired the units they reported:
?Unit needed update to correct described problem. Product tested to standard specs.?
Has anyone else experienced failures with the MPS 112?
