Does anyone know if this panel has started shipping yet? If so, any input positive or negative would be appreciated.

I'm hoping I'm wrong cuz I opened my big mouth and sold them on a job already and now I'm thinking I'll have to explain in 3 month why they can't be installed.
ATTENTION: This is PREMILARY!!! There are no more changes expected, but it may happen until final release.
I heard that it is supposed to ship late January.

My Rep is telling me that the new release date is the 11th of Feb
by the sounds of the rumors that I am hearing this one seems like the one..
Can't wait to get one, my sales sold it on a job that is installing at the moment...
tight, really tight!!
~Shudder!~
I'm programming a system with 5200 too
The scroll whell works - cursor: up, down, left, right, select and rotate left - right .... very nice
Two weeks and counting (hee hee). Anyone got one in their hot little hands yet? If so, what's the verdict?
I'm hoping they ship sooner since I need 4 yesterday.
Question to everyone though that has quoted it in current or coming jobs: given that any product from any company can be delayed for whatever reason - why spec it? I'm really confused as to why someone would try to sell something that doesn't exist. Wouldn't you want to wait until you have it in your hands before you quote it in a job? Or am I missing something.
The funniest thing is - when a product does get delayed, people seem to get upset with AMX for delaying it - and not themselves for quoting something that doesn't officially exist yet.
The way I see it, one would have two options: quote the thing, and finish the job later to a possibly upset customer who's been left without control. Or two - quote something else, but giving them the knowledge of the other piece - and when that other piece comes out - show it to them, and try to sell it to them over their perfectly running original piece you specc'ed. Yes? No?
I have customers who regularly visit the AMX web site to see what is coming up, and one that even attended Cedia. They see the new products, and say, "Want!" So, the obliging sales team contracts it. I had a customer sold R4's six months before they actually appeared. I have at least 2 jobs with 5200's contracted. I don't see any way to avoid a certain amount of that, I just make sure they understand release dates are not set in stone (more like, they are set in Jello ... ).
This is what I was told. April at the soonest.
I absolutely agree, but the way it happens is salesmen spec it in jobs because it's the cool new sh*t and that's what they want to sell. I'm not defending it, but that's how it happens. The salesmen don't care because they don't have to deal with it, the PM does.
the only explanation that will work for me is either a container ship sunk or all the panels they received from manufacturing were defective.
That's when I think the sales guys need to start having their commission docked. Quoting things that are not shipping - that's unacceptable. Who cares if the client saw it - if it's not shipping, they can't have it. Plain and simple.
then your customer also must be aware of the problems there are with shipping...
right?
If AMX says they are going to ship in January we should have the confidence in them that they trully beleive and expect that to be the ship date but we also have to understand that we are all human and $hit does happened so if the job has to be finish in January/February you don't spec the product but March/April/May then expecting delivery should be a reasonable expectation. As long as AMX keeps us abreast of further delays there's always the option of telling the customer to either wait another month or two or change to the MVP8400.
The problem is, when you fail to advise the client that their release date and avalabilty is tentative and if that's going to be a problem have them choose products that are readily available.
The sales guy is also the owner of the company. Not going to happen . He saw a new product, and trusted the original release date, and talked a customer or two into it based on that. Should he have known better? Probably. Doesn't help the situation that exists though.
Purchasing didn't even know it wasn't shipping - if I didn't see it here, I wouldn't have known. AMX is not all that up-front when there are problems.
