XMP Ir Protocol

Hi all,
I'm trying to control a new HD Sat reciver. i read the ir from the remote and all goes well but the device isn't working....
when i spoke with the HD Sat company they told me that the IR isn't in the regular protocol, but, in a new protocol called XMP - eXtensible Multimedia Protocol.

Any one got any idea what does that mean and how am i suppose to read these ir files?
