Can we control RF devices with AMX?

Hi guys,

I need to control a device having RF, not IR, remote control. Any idea?

Thank you so much.

Bit of a hack way of doing it but you could wire relays to the RF remote control.

Have done that in the past for motorized blinds.

Don't forget to replace the remotes batteries with a power supply though or you will find yourself back there replacing batteries all the time.

    There's always a 'way'...

there are several electroinics companies that sell generic RF transmitters that can be set up to do just about anything you want. The issue is: do you have the protocol used by whatever device you're referring to?

I have one of those ceiling fans that is controlled by RF remote. I know the frequency of the device but don't have the protocols for the codes being sent. The company isn't much help.

Perhaps you could let us know what device you're referring to. that might help too.

There is no native solution ... most RF protocols are proprietary, and very few are published. Any time I have needed to do this, I got an extra transmitter, hacked it physically, and "pressed" its buttons with a relay output.
