MVP-8400

I must be missing something, I have a MVP-8400 that has never been used, it was part of the "demo" system we had to buy when we signed up as dealers... several years ago..
Firmware is v2.30.14.
Problem I am having is setting up to connect via USB. I went to the website and downloaded USB LAN Driver. When I go to install it gets to the point of "searching for dirvers" and just sits there and never moves on. Any suggestions?

As I recall, you need to install the drivers first, then plug it in. You may have to clear out any previous attempt to install drivers by deleting it from device manager, re-installing the USB drivers, then plugging it back in.

But you shouldn't need to touch the USB connection with an 8400. Just connect to it with 802.11. I won't USB for panels unless I absolutely have to (R series remotes).

Well, for starters the current firmware version is 2.84.18. I'd definitely load that up first. That might take care of the problem you're having altogether.

I would make a quick call to AMX tech support and make sure you can go straight from version 2.3.etc... There may need to be some intervening files that need to be there to make it work.

you have to tell windows to allow the unsigned drivers, don't know if that's the issue :)

Except in Illinois, where the unsigned drivers can just slip a couple hundred bucks to the right people...
  • Another thing to note is that if your IP range is 10.0.0.xxx, this is what AMX uses for their default USB Lan range. The way I found this was the touch panel would connect to my laptop not on my network, but not to my networked PC.
