The cINDEX_LIST_1 array is set up to record the ID numbers and info pertaining to that ID that is returned from the iPod for each menu and is set up as follows:
[5] 5 different menus of information. If one selects Playlist it will actually only use 3 of the menus ? Songs will only use 2 ? Artists will use 4 - Albums and videos use 5.
[2] 2 types of information in each menu ? ID number[1] and either Song, Album, or Artist [2]. This info in [2] is sent to the Touch Panels when a list is produced or on the push of the Menu button.
[10] This is the list length of each menu. This can be set the same as the TP_UI_list variable in the Main.axs actually.

In this case, the point looks to be to prevent having to cut and paste identical code to another location. If that code has to change, you now have to track down every copy of it. Without spending any more than the 30 seconds I took to look that code over ( ), I couldn't say if there isn't a better way to do it, like creating a function, but you also have to keep in mind that the comm module itself might be acting on the push you just bypassed by taking the DO_PUSH out.
What are the issues that the naysayers have with it? I've been using it extensively lately in my new modules as the primary means of communication between the main code ui and the comm module. I normally use the do_push_timed infinite followed by a do_release which allows me create a hold in my module which you can't do with a channel event w/o creating/terminating a timeline. I haven't noticed any problems with this method and can't image it being any more or less reliable than a channel event trigger by an ON, OFF or PULSE [something,xx].
So what's the deal? Why the hatred of my beloved DO_PUSH?
Mee too. I use DO_PUSH all the time with no ill effects. The times I've seen people get in trouble with it is when they seem to have a mixed up understanding of the difference between a button being 'on' and a button being 'pushed'
I commonly make my modules activate funtions via button pushes. So the main program just pushes a button on the module's virt device and the fun begins.
Love and embrace the DO_PUSH, don't fear and outcast it!
When writing modules, I tend to stick with channel_events as opposed to button_events within the module. The reason I decided to go with this is it seems to be the new standard for AMX modules and I like the look of pulse[dev,chan] better than do_push(dev,chan).... plus I don't have to use the SHIFT key to type pulse

I tried the channel route but didn't want to create a timeline to affect a hold/repeat. When using a do_push_timed I can mirror the button pushes, holds and releases in the module. And as you mentioned by using the do_push_timed the button push will last as long or as short as you hold the button just the same as sending a channel on/off with a push/release.
You can't use do_push(_timed) for an array of devices so that limitation alone makes it virtually useless in my code.
