Bluray/DVD without Discretes

I am programming a system with two new Samsung BD-P1600 Bluray players. There are no known discrete power commands that I can find. I am trying to find a way of turning them off when not in use and on when selected as a source. I do not have any voltage or video sensors. Does anyone have any tricks or tips for making this work without sensors?

I am currently using Play as a power on command but the player has Netflix and Pandora and sending Play causes the disc to load which then has to be stopped in order to launch Netflix or Pandora. I have a feeling there is no solution without sensor but thought I would ask.

    Does it have a SCART socket, there are a few ways to use this to connect to the io port if your handy with a soldering iron
