Sony SCD-XA5400ES - IR

Anyone, please? I can't seem to get any discrete on/off to work, which is super strange since it's Sony - I mean c'mon, almost all of their codes across devices are identical (at least that's been my experience.)

    I have this conversation with my boss every week, it seems.

    Me: "I don't have discretes for this model."
    Boss: "Sure you do, it's a Sony (or Pioneer, or Marantz ... yada yada), they are all the same."
    Me: "Most are the same, but once in a while they make an exception. I don't trust that unless I can confirm it with the exact model."
    Boss: "I have a hard time believing that!"

    And he always does. I suspect he thinks, every time, that I must have made a mistake, and that they really work after all. The toughest is Marantz, since he believes they are all still RC5 compatible, even though they are clearly selling re-branded Denons.

    I know that's not real helpful; I just had to rant a bit on the issue. I wish it were true, and they would stick to the same codes without exception.
