Modbus Protcol Question!

Ok, So i have a project where I need to control lights with modbus protocol. The major problem is I will never be on site and they will not send me a demo unit to test with. So my question is has anybody ever used this protocol?
If anybody has used it can you please help me in understanding how you send a string to a coil and turn it on? Also how do you can you help with how I send the command to read the coil of its current status?
Attached is the print I got from the vendor. I know the address of the device I want to conrol is 58 and I have devices @ registers 0 thru 3 on binary outputs 1-16 and i get feedback on registers 4 thru 6 on binary channels 1 thru 16.
