Resolutions and DPI's

Anyone have a good way to figure a size of a button on a TP that has more dots/mm than the resolution in TPD4? I only have a NXT1200VG and it's 2.97 DPI. A MVP5200 is .23 DPI but doing calculation still gives me 7 inch width when the panel is 5.2 diagonal. What's up with that?
