AXLink device in Netlinx program?

Sorry if this is a simple question but I'm a bit stuck.
I got an AXB-232++ to add an extra serial port to an NI-2100. The AXLink light on both units is flashing every second so the link is apparently good. I have set the device number to 15 on the AXB-232++ and set the baud rate for the serial device.
How do I send commands to the AXB-232++ in a Netlinx program?
