R4 3.01.0x Firmware Upgrade Procedure

Upgrading a pre-3.x R4/Gateway to the latest is a bit confusing to start. There are a lot of files, a lot of don't do this, do this first, look out behind you! I wrote up an email to help a dealer with the upgrade procedure and thought I'd share it here.

Each Zigbee Gateway AND each R4 need upgraded. You have to upgrade to 3.00.00 then you can upgrade to 3.01.0x. (.0x because some versions are .05 some are .07)

Use NetLinx Studio for all the firmware transfers. To upgrade the Gateways you connect to the Master and send it to the Gateway Device Number (you can refresh the online tree to find the device number) via IP. To upgrade the R4s you connect to the Virtual Device and send it to the R4 Device Number via USB. You have to put the R4s into USB mode and reboot before starting.

To upgrade the Gateway to 3.00.00 there is only one file
* SW5791_01A_NXR_ZGW_v3_00_00.kit

To upgrade the R4 to 3.00.00 there are two files.
Do the Zigbee Module file FIRST -- Do NOT reboot after loading (UNCHECK the box BEFORE Sending)
* SW0148_01B_MIOR4_ZIGBEE_MODULE_v3_00_00.kit (NO REBOOT)
* SW0148_01A_MIOR4_v3_00_00.kit

To upgrade the Gateway to 3.01.0x there are three files. Do them in this order:
* SW5791_01A_NXR_ZGW_v3_01_07.kit
* SW5795_92_ZIGBEE_END_DEVICE_v3_01_05.kit (NO REBOOT)
* SW5791_07_ZIGBEE_REPEATER_v3_01_05.kit (NO REBOOT)

To upgrade the R4 to 3.01.0x there are two files
Do the Zigbee Module file FIRST -- Do NOT reboot after loading (UNCHECK the box BEFORE Sending)
* SW0148_01B_MIOR4_ZIGBEE_MODULE_v3_01_05.kit (NO REBOOT)
* SW0148_01A_MIOR4_v3_01_05.kit

It is also worth noting that the R4 needs to be in the dock for the firmware download to work.

I also found out on Friday that the the R4 3.01.x fixes a bug that was causing some graphics files to be written to the wrong location in memory. This fix will cause some file transfers to repeatedly fail.

The fix is to go through the setup pages and delete all user pages on the remote and then you will be able to successfully download the TP4 files.
