Has anyone had experience trying to control this unit via RS-232? Apparently it does not have the ability to send back much status info during recording, such as elapsed time or even track #. Questioning Tascam tech support on this, I was told the machine was too busy during the recording process to send back this kind of information.
I guess I am wondering:
-Is it unusual to try to poll this kind of machine for this sort of status?
-Why is this not in the RS-232 protocol manual, since the device is marketed as a "recorder"?

This product is made be another company I guess, because the protocol differs from the "standard" tascam protocol...
Otherwise, you can also look at the Tascam CDRW901, but I'm not sure if that can be polled during recording.
