Can you fry an NI4K by shorting an IR port?

Long story but an IR port got shorted (with a spark).
It powers up and connects to TPs but is otherwise unresponsive.
If I reboot it with the Program Run Disable DIP switch, I can see the device tree, showing AXLink and ethernet devices, but no ICSNet stuff. DMS keypads show "Waiting for Master." It appears the serial ports are also unresponsive.
So, any ideas out there on quick diagnostics or field repair?

On a re-read, you mention a static zap ... that's not a short, that's voltage. Yes, I would say from your description that you may have fried the controller. Static electricity is really pretty high voltage, it can do a number on things.
