I have a project using various models of the extron XPA amps. (XPA 1002, XPA 2001). Does anyone know how to ramp volume up and down using I/O ports on an NI-700? Thanks so much for your help.

Hi there,
Using the i/O ports i snot going to be the way to control this amp. you have a couple of options here.
1.) Does your switcher or matrix that is supplying the amp have volume control (the AMX 2011 or Extron MPS112 presentation switchers for example). This way, you control the presentation switcher volume via RS232
2.) If this is not an option for you, you then need to put an volume control module into the XPA1002. The Extron part would be MLA VC10 Plus.

The Extron amp offers no method to control the volume level. The only control is contact closure for muting and standby. You could also use a AXB-VOL3 from AMX to control the level if the device feeding the amp has no audio control.
