"Memory Available"

I'm aware that masters if you ask a master nicely through telnet it'll give you its memory utilization stats; however, I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the two parameters referred to in the unsoliceted "Memory Available = xxxxxxxx <yyyyy>" diagnostics message refer to?

The first number is, as would be expected, the total memory available. The second number, in the angled brackets, is the amount of memory that was just allocated by whatever triggered the message ... which is any operation that allocates memory.
