Free Remote PC Support Options

Inevitably, you need to take control of a remote PC and probably dont have the luxury of a webex account, or a go to assist account.

Here are two free options that may work for you.

http://www.dimdim.com/

Just learned about dimdim today, and was surprised to see that the free plan allows up to 20 users in your session (presentation), and has a call bridge number/pin.

I am new to both, and some of you may have more experiences with one or the other and can elaborate on the features of the free tiers, but this looks like a great option for those needing to provide remote PC-based support.

Looks like dimdim does not currently support the ability to give control of your machine to other users at this time. Spoke with their support team and it looks to be a feature in their next release. For now, it is good for a big conference call and present (or view) content from other users. As the meeting organizer, you can make other users the presenter and view their desktop.

If you just need to transfer files, I find that Skype is a wonderful, free way to transfer files to someone's PC if you also have an active Skype chat session with the remote computer/person.

I'll have to check out these other options for desktop sharing.

Crossloop is another free solution (www.crossloop.com).

I also like to use teamviewer. It's quite nice and quick.

Agreed, teamviewer is great. It has saved me HOURS of drive time on several occasions.
