MVP-8400 Protected Setup???

Another weird 8400 problem(s). When I try to access the Protected Setup from the main Setup page the Keyboard pops up instead of the keypad. The password is default 1988, but the keyboard will not accept it. The firmware is 2.86.5

I have two 8400 panels and they're now both doing this.

The second panel was fine when I took it out of the box to try to figure out another new problem; the panel falls offline while cursoring around a guide or menu on TV, but just for about 7 seconds. I found this second panel to also be falling offline. So I updated firmware and now it rarely connects to the WAP. The setup was working fine and now it doesn't.

Any ideas?

You can send the panel the SETUP command through telnet or netlinx studio to get to the setup page if you are in a jam. This is not the answer, but a possible work around until you get the issue solved.
  • The new security buttons has 3 modes (2 secure type mode, 1 standard mode). If you change to one of the secure modes telnet will be replaced by ssh, the default password for everything will go from "1988" to "Amx1234!", and webcontrol will be disabled. Going back to the standard mode will set all the passwords back to 1988. Note some settings will require a reboot to take effect.

You may have accidentally changed to a secure mode...try the "Amx1234!" password.
  • Thanks, Got it!

The security modes were only added in the latest firmware.
