Alternatives to List Box?

I was just reading in another thread that list boxes don't work on the panel I am using. Is there something similar, or is does anyone want to share how they fake it? Just thought I'd mention it before I leave for the day and re-invent the wheel in the morning.

If your point of using a listbox is to create a scrolling list of stuff (like cable tv channels, Sirius stattions, etc...) then you can do it from code and just use a stack of text buttons and a couple arrow keys to scroll up and down. I suppose it depends upon what you're tyring to do.

I like doing this kind of stufrf in code since it's easier to manipulate and change later.

I've been doing it in code too. I keep telling myself I ought to use the built-in tool, I use so few that support it I have never gotten around to it.

Agreed, doing it in code is the way to go. Once list boxes are available on all panels, I'll probably use them, but since they're not . . . gotta build it yourself.
  • It is too bad that the List Box element is only available on the R-4. Just finished implementing nothing but List Boxes on a bunch of R-4's for a project and they are kind of cool. Although Channel Feedback on the selected row would be nice.

I thought there was a thread a while back (where I got feisty and whined like a little girl losing her brother's ball), where it was explained that the newer panels (5200i) are capable of list boxes, but not the 8400. I wonder if the new 9000i will have it.
