I walked into a site and the client handed me a Daktronics G-200-1-7x120 (1 line, 7 px high, 120 characters), and no other information. It was connected to their previous AMX system via RS-232 so there must be a way to control this device to post messages. The manufacture was NOT easy to deal with and demanded information such as where the device was located and what type of facility it was installed in prior to even asking the Model or serial number. So far all I have from Daktronics is the baud info (19200,N,8,1 no flow control), Venus 1500 software (which they say is used to control this sign), and manuals for the sign and the software, neither of which have an API.
I'm about to use the software and hopefully get the commands to control this sign as their technical support staff seemed to not have a clue as to what I meant when I asked for the serial API. I was hoping though that someone on here would read this and know the command structure.
