How Reliable needs the Network to be ?

Pinging a wireless touchpanel/Ipad

Can you say what Pinging time shouldnt be overstepped ?
where is the line between, still ok, and network/Touchpanel needs to be fixed ?

Comparing an Ipad and a MVP-8400 at the same AP.
The 8400 has problems with hanging up and beeing slow,the ipad works ok.

Ping Ipad--> min:2ms max:122ms average:57ms Lost: 0
Ping 8400--> min:1ms max:295ms average:28ms Lost: 11 (7%)

I guess in this case its a 8400 problem, because of the lost data.

But whats about the speed? The Ipad average is slower but works better. (can i read anything out of this ?)

    I verified with my iPhone and iPad and got the following results.
                         (min/ avg  /  max  /  stddev)
    ipad: 7.757/61.278/194.477/32.361 ms 0.0% packet loss
    iphone 3GS: 6.039/64.257/185.766/37.288 ms 0.0% packet loss

    Interestingly the iphone doesn't reply if it's locked and not being charged.
    Yet the iPad maintains the connection for a bit and then drops it. (when not being charged)

    When being charged they maintain the connection however.

    I don't have a 8400 in the office, but I do have a 5200. I'll check that one when I get my charger back.

    Maybe someone can verify with the iPhone4,iPad2,iPod4? They support wireless N. I'm curious to see if that's any faster.

    The network I used here is wireless G. Can't check wireless N at the moment. Don't have my testsuite hooked up fully.
