Mi-series

I'm busy on a job where I've had to reprogramme a control system involving a Mi-series DAS-M0808. 7 inputs (2-8) have been used at present, and the idea was to utilize the 1st input for the new blu-ray player being installed. However, no audio gets passed through the first input for some unknown reason. The same source works on all other inputs, and the programming appears to switch to any other input but the first one. Is there record of these devices failing such that a single input would be broken? Or must it be an issue with the coding?

  • To best of my knowledge input number 1 is reserved for the built in radio tuner. The very existence of input connectors might imply that they could be assignable through firmware or jumpers/dip switches, but they are defaulted for the fm card from factory.

Just found the line in the manual that states that, does anybody know how to bypass this to allow it as an external input?

For anybody else dealing with this issue, the solution is apparently to remove any tuner unit if it exists, and then the input(s) will be available. Going to attempt that this week.

The solution for this is to change the physical jumpers inside the unit. Just disconnecting the ribbon cable will not do it. This information used to only be in the manual for the tuner card, but has now moved into the Mi series reference manual. Found here

PDF page 83 shows the positions for operation. The device can have two tuners, and that is why there are two sections to adjust. By default, the second wll be in the OFF position.

    Hope this helps!

Fantastic! That is much appreciated, I think that I was working from an older version of the operation/reference guide for that specific unit. Luckily, I'm only going to sort it out at the end of the week, would've been incredibly frustrating otherwise...
