5200 Wifi connection problems

I have a lot off problems with 5200's wireless connection, I'm using Web encryption, and all Ip Static settings are OK, but if I do a ping to 192.168.0.19 - t. I can see the connection is not stable. The distance to router is not far, it looks like no signal problem. The router is WRT54G. Someone has this problems too?, do you have suggestions?, helps if you change the router?, thanks in advance for your help.

    Do you have timeouts on the connection?

    Other than that I would suggest you perform a scan of the area (a 2.4ghz spectrum scan) and change your wireless router/AP to a more professional one. WRT54Gs aren't exactly known for their stability/speed. Your setup is only as strong as it's weakest link. And I haven't had many issues with 5200s on networks where there was no interference and when using good network gear.
