WAP-250 Configuration

HI,

A client ask for our assistance to improve their AMX wifi signal, went to the site and noticed that the WAP250 AP was inside the rack at the control room and uses 3 TP to provide control for 3 medium sized rooms which serves as 1 big conference room and can be divided to 3 partitioned rooms or as may say the amx design was room combining, my question is the wifi signal is low you cant even bring the TP outside the control room so pls. comment on my plan if it is right:

1. Relocate the WAP250 AP to the center of the big room (by the way it has WEP enabled and dunno the key even the client)
2. Add 2 WAP250 will place it to the first room and the other to last room.
3. I presume the AP is on channel 1 (default)
4. Set the first and last WAP250 to bridge/repeater mode with same SSID. and set it to channel 6 and 11.
5 Open the web browser of the 1st WAP and scan for the AP and save and do the same to the other WAP and save. no need to connect any CAT5/6 cable to the 1st and 2nd WAP250.

Is that right? by the way the size of each room is approximately 15meterx 15 meters each.

Any comments or help will be highly appreciated.

Regards to all.

I would run cat5/6 to each AP, run all APs in AP mode, set each to the same encryption/key, same SSID and put on channels 1, 6, 11.

    HI Vining,

Tnx for the reply, the problem is I don't know the encryption key, can I reset the WAP-250? I get all the details of the TP and the following settings are:

    Wireless: Static Wireless: Static Wireless:Static

    255.255.255.0 255.255.255.0 255.255.255.0
    192.168.1.1 192.168.1.1
    Master: 192.168.1.10 Master:192.168.1.10 Master:192.168.1.10
    Channel 6 SSID AMX Channel 6 Port 1319 System# 0

Sorry for my innocence am still new to AMX

    Tnx again

How many clients other than AMX gear are there? If only AMX gear then just reset the key. If you can access the APs setup you should be able to see the current key. If other gear is using the AP and no one has the key then reset everything.
