Old Dull Panel

Greetings,

I have an old NXD-CV12. The brightness seems to be somewhat reduced from when the panel was new and especially dull when compared to new panels.

If I was to replace the LCD panel, could I expect an improved image? I am not sure what happens to the panels as they age.

Thanks.

y'know. It might be a case of just hanging out on ebay and finding another one. By the time you buy parts/lights/glass or whatever to make it better, you'd be just as well off getting one off ebay. Typically you can get an idea of the quality of the display if they have a picture with the screen on. I do this all the time for my own personal stuff.

A new panel with lights is $116. If I knew that would improve things, I would go for it.

The lighting tubes do get dim with age, but also consider the touch overlay... it can get yellow, dull, and slightly opaque with age, particularly if in the sun or if cleaned regularly with anything but water.

You might be able to judge actual illumination vs what the overlay allows through by dissasembly and observing the brightness of the light escaping around the overlay.
